Imagine this: It’s late at night, the queues are dead, but you’re still hankering for a bit of fun.
You could exit the game and drive to your local late-night establishment to drink and socialize.
But why spend the next day $100 poorer with a pounding hangover? Azeroth is chock full of pubs and bars that you can explore and enjoy all night long.
And to get the most out of your epic bar-hopping adventure, make sure to do it in the city with the nicest pubs!
Boralus is the beating heart of Kul Tiras. The seafarer’s city is home to more bars than any other capital, and every corner is alive with its own unique story.
This is why it’s the perfect place to unwind and explore after a long day on the grind.
As a Gilnean, I’ve always felt connected to Kul Tiras. After all, Kul Tiras was established by Gilneans a very long time ago. And though time has changed us both (undead invasions notwithstanding), we’re still pretty similar.
For example, both nations pride themselves on producing excellent spirits!
And from my many travels there, I’ve concocted what I think is the best Boralus bar crawl itinerary. It will take you all around the coolest parts of the city, and turn your next empty late night into one you’ll always remember.
And since we’re knee-deep in the season of love (some might even say it’s in the air), I invited my Valentine, Hadrian to come along for the ride.
First Stop of the Day: Harborside Spirits
Catch the midday boat from Stormwind, and you’ll be in Boralus in no time.
Once you step off the ship, your very first stop will not be hard to find. Harborside Spirits is a quaint little portside bar that sits comfortably in the heart of the Tradewinds Market.
Seating is pretty limited, but that’s alright, because this is just your warm-up.
The drink list holds a fairly standard selection, so you can’t really go wrong with any choice. For this stop we both got the Hook Point Schnapps.
Next: Brew n’ Bites at Hops, Line, & Sinker
For the next stop you’ll want to head into town and make your way to the Ashvane Docks. Follow the sound of laughter and music, and you’ll find Hops, Line, & Sinker Brewing. As suggested by their name, they brew their own beer!
This is a great spot to try out specialty flights and some tasty appetizers under the cozy glow of string lights.
Chef Patrick is an expert on the food pairings and is happy to give recommendations for any drink you order. I could go on about the awesome quality of the eats, but I’ll save it for my full Boralus gastro-tour later on.
Their spacious open-air patio sits right on the water and offers an intimate view of the north part of the city. The inner two-story dining area is warm, lively, and buzzing with the sound of live music and smell of hot food.
HLS is one of my go-to’s in Boralus because it’s a great place to meet all kinds of locals and travelers.
An Evening at Pinky’s, the Upton Groggery
Once the sun starts to go down, head south to Pinky’s Groggery in Upton Borough.
Being as classy as it is, it’s a place you’d think would have a nicer name! To me, groggery sounds like a word for something… unpleasant.
From their decorated shoreside patio, you’ll get a great view of Mariner’s Row. And if you get cold, you can warm yourself up by the central fireplace.
Being a location mostly suited to the elites and upper-class folks in the city, Pinky’s is more of a sit-down pub. So feel free to kick back, relax, and grab a drink at their standing bar. Or if you feel like you’re starting to lose your sea legs, just order from your table.
A Place for Unique Tastes
The one thing I love most about Pinky’s is their selection. The excessive affluence of Upton Borough keeps this place in perpetual high fashion, so it’s no surprise they can afford the good stuff. And some of the goods they offer are particularly rare.
While a round of Old Ironforge or a bottle of The Aerie 8 Year are tempting choices, if you really want to try something unforgettable, get the Arathor Single Cask.
It’s a fairly steep swill, going for just a little over 116g per glass. But what else can you expect from a liquor that’s bottled from the last remaining cask from the Empire of Arathor?
You don’t get stuff that good from just pickpocketing bandits in Elwynn forest.
Just be careful that you don’t overdo the drinks here. Not only will you go broke pretty fast, but they don’t serve any food! So if you get too hammered here, there’s no telling if you’ll make it to the last stop.
Final Destination: The Cupola
If you make it to the last stop and you’re still standing straight, congratulations! Kul Tiran liquor is no joke, and I applaud your resilience.
The last stop of the night is The Cupola Cafe, just up the hill from Pinky’s. It’s a cute little corner bar/café that’s comfortably tucked away from the bustle and noise of the city.
We ended our night with a traditional round of the classic Kul Tiran Tripel and ate our dinner at a table overlooking the bay.
The Cupola is the perfect last stop for the Boralus Bar Crawl because sobering up is easy with their extensive list of coffees. Plus it’s never that busy, so it’s a fun spot to hang out and end the day!
And that’s the Boralus Bar Crawl!
I hope you find it as fun as we did 🙂
There are plenty of other fun bars and pubs in Boralus, and I hope you’ll explore them all (after you go on this amazing route, of course).
